Just because we haven't had morning announcements doesn't mean there is no Go Club. It is because we are so attached to our games during the meetings that we always forget to write the stupid announcement request.

So remember: Go Club still and always meets every Wednesday and Friday at lunch in C-10, unless it is not a normal school day (in which case we will give notice either here or in a meeting).

Also, if you haven't yet donated to our "appease the wrath of the golf tournament" fund, please do so. We ask for only 1 dollar from each member; give the money to Allen. No check, credit, or COD accepted. Why the fund? We are required to make a gift basket for the tournament, which is in May.

Attention all members!
Because of the upcomming golf tournament, all clubs must donate either a team or a gift basket. The team is 4 people, and it costs $90 per person, so we will go with the gift basket. That will be less expensive, but it still requires money. Thus, we ask for a $1 donation from all members to help defray our expenses (since our club doens't have a budget). Thank you for donating!

PS Of course, you could donate more than just $1 if you would like...

Some News

Not much news recently, but here's something somewhat interesting. A computer has finally solved all the optimal plays, opening moves, and outcomes on a 5x5 Go board. Now remember, the full size board is 19x19, so since a simple 5x5 solution made headlines, it shows you just how complex Go is. Game on!

Also, don't forget that our first major, state tournament of the year is coming up sometime in May. If you haven't received a flyer / sign-up form yet, ask us at the next meeting. It contains some basic information about the tournament.

On Friday, the club will host a school inclusive tournament for our quarty reports. So, go support!

Also, it appears that the 2nd Annual California High School Tournament will be help in the upcoming months. May 1st, 2005 looks like the current tentative date.

The California High School Tournament will have 3 19x19 boards and 2 13x13 boards competing.

Hello my Go playing people,

Anyway, ASB wants each club to host a school inclusive event and report it. So basically, we have to do something to promote the cause of our club for the rest of the school.

Thus, sometime soon, the Go club will either be hosting a Go Tournament or showing the Hikaru no Go anime. Maybe we'll even do both! So yeah, this is just an early notice for you guys that stuff is happenning during times of events.

You can find those forums on the sidebar, under "Resources".

Anyway, you can visit the site to ask for Go help or simply chat anything related to Go.

oh, interesting thing. anyways, from next week on, i encourage regular attendance at the go club due to the strict(er) rules imposed by the student council. the go club isn't exclusively for playing. u can come in, eat, socialize, watch other games going on, do hw, ask help, and of course play and enjoy the game.
